Types

Here we will cover the different types of pokemon and their weaknesses/move effects. So if anyone has trouble with what types are effective to what, refer to this page and check it out!

 

There are some abilities that alter type weakness and resistance. This could vastly change gameplay to the unprepared. Cross reference these abilities to the ability section on Game Mechanics.

Color Change, Forecast, Filter, Heatproof, Levitate, Multitype, Solid Rock, Thick Fat, Volt Absorb, Wonder Guard


Burmy and Wormadam are a particularly special case. Burmy has three forms, Grass, Ground and Steel, based on where it last battled. Which form the female Burmy is in when it evolves dictates Wormadam's type, which is Bug plus the type of Burmy's form. You can always tell by appearance. The green color means Grass/Bug, the pink is Bug/Steel, and the brown is Bug/Ground. Male burmys always just evolve into Mothim.


There are also moves that can effect the amount of damage dealt on an opposing pokemon or to your own.

Foresight, Gravity, Lock-on, Miracle Eye, Odor Sleuth, Roost

There are berries which will halve a pokemon's weakness, but these only effect one attack, and there's no way to be sure whether your opponent has one. Most of these berries can be predictable though. Duel types usually carry berries to prevent absolute destruction from x4 super effective hits. Some examples are Gyarados and Garchomp.

Here are the first 17 single types and their weaknesses. I will also include the effect of the move on an opposing type since all moves can only have one type.

 

**Normal**

Immune: Ghost

Normal type attacks are not very effective against Rock amd Steel and do nothing
to Ghost types.


**Fire**

x2 weak: Water, ground, rock
x0.5 resistant: Fire, Grass, Ice, Bug, Steel

Fire type attacks are super effective against Grass, Ice, Bug, and Steel, and
not very effective against Fire, Water, Rock, and Dragon.



**Water**

x2 weak: Electric, Grass

Water type attacks are super effective against Fire, Ground, and Rock, and not
very effective against Water, Grass, and Dragon.



**Electric**

Flying type attacks are super effective against Grass, Fighting, and Bug, and

**Psychic**

Psychic type attacks are super effective against Fighting and Poison, not very
effective against Psychic and Steel, and do nothing to Dark types.
